Get the Most Out of Your Vaultek Biometric Scanner

5 Essential Tips

At Vaultek, we pride ourselves on providing fast, secure access to your valuables. Our biometric scanner technology is a cornerstone of our quick-access safes, offering unmatched speed and accuracy. To ensure you’re unlocking your safe as quickly and reliably as possible, we’ve compiled five essential tips for optimizing your biometric scanner performance..

Why Vaultek’s Biometric Technology Stands Out

Our engineering team has developed proprietary biometric technology that sets us apart. Unlike traditional 2D fingerprint scanners, Vaultek scanners use advanced 3D scanning technology to measure not only the surface patterns of your fingerprint but also the depth of the ridges and valleys. This 3D data is paired with a custom algorithm for highly accurate and fast fingerprint recognition.

Important Basics Before You Start

Before diving into our tips, let’s cover some essential ground rules:

1. Cleanliness Matters – Ensure your fingers are clean and dry. Residue from lotions, oils, or moisture can impact scanner performance.
2. Avoid Damaged Prints – Scarred or blemished fingerprints may not scan effectively. If you encounter difficulties, try using your thumb, as it offers the largest surface area.
3. Compatibility Across Models – These tips apply to all Vaultek biometric scanners, including those on LifePods.

1. Lay Your Fingerprint Flat

For accurate scanning, ensure your fingerprint is pressed flat against the scanner. This creates a complete surface area for the scanner to read. Whether you’re enrolling or unlocking, a flat placement improves accuracy and speed.

2. Enroll Your Print 4-5 Times

The more data the scanner has, the better it can recognize your fingerprint. Enroll your primary fingerprint 4-5 times to maximize its readability. Remember, Vaultek biometric scanners can store up to 20 unique fingerprints, while ViSN safes can hold up to 80.

3. Aim for Consistency in Placements

Consistent finger placement is key. Use the lunula (the half-moon shape near the base of your fingernail) as a guide. Center it on the scanner during both enrollment and regular use to ensure the best results.

4. Don’t Tap the Scanner

Avoid tapping the scanner as if it were a button. Instead, press your fingerprint flat on the scanner and hold it until the safe unlocks. This ensures the scanner has enough time to read your fingerprint accurately.

5. Practice for Perfection

Just as you would practice drawing from a holster, practice using your biometric scanner. Repetition builds muscle memory, making it second nature to place your fingerprint correctly and unlock your safe swiftly when it matters most.
