ViSN Smart Station DS2i

A little disappointed. I purchased it for the dual use of quick access gun safe and the charge for my phone. The charger is too sensitive. You essentially have about 1MM of error on the placement of your phone or it won't charge. About 2 of every 3 nights I put my phone on the top and it's not actually charging. Awesome idea, but just needs more reliable/bigger charger.

Awesome safe, perfect for the bedside and makes me confident that i can get to what i ned quickly if needed.

Well built and well thought out control set. Ability to adjust the display makes this a winner for me. I now have a gun discreetly stored and near instantly to hand without it being unsafe.

This is the WORST SET UP INSTRUCTIONS ever!!!!!!!!!!!

The internet connection is extremely finicky and the fingerprint reader cannot read your finger if it’s oriented ever so slightly in a slightly different way than the three you program for one print. I understand why they allow for 20 prints. I expected a bit better for the price point.

It’s a remarkable safe. It fits my G48/RMRcc, spare mag, flashlight perfectly. The fit and finish are exemplary (with one small caveat below), and the form factor is superb.

Quite a bit of thought and effort went into the engineering. First and foremost, it looks like a modern bedside alarm clock, even though it does not have an alarm function. Upon initial survey of the room, the inconspicuous nature of the safe would present as a regular alarm clock with phone charger, not at all a firearm safe. This is an important part of security.

Second, it is easy to get into in a multitude of ways. The biometric reader works quite well. Especially if you register the same fingers multiple times in different locations and body positions that slightly change the way the finger presents to the safe. I did it three times each for my index and thumb and I almost have zero failure to open attempts. The number button access code is also easy and error free, and while the key is less accessible, it also works flawlessly. This provides more than adequate security with peace of mind that you can gain access in a moment of crisis.

Finally, the ability to permanently mount the safe to a table or secure it via the steel cable prevent the easy removal of the safe. Both options are inconspicuous do as not to alert the casual browser to the real nature of the safe.

There are two cons to the safe. While neither are deal breakers, they are worth mentioning:

First, the safe is not heavy enough. The pressure required to close the safe drawer also causes the safe to slide on the table. This makes it a two handed job; one to close the drawer and another to hold the safe in place. I find the closing to be a one handed job, the other is holding the gear I removed from the safe. As it is, I either have to put everything down to free up both hands to close the drawer or risk the open drawer alert alarm sounding while I secure my gear. If the safe were heavier, I could close it one handed without disturbing the placement of the safe.

The other is the phone charger on top of the safe. It is plastic and slick. My phone doesn’t really fall off, but I think a nicer touch would be a rubber pad where the phone would go. The plastic feels cheap on an otherwise high end safe.

The ability to control what the click face displays is a very nice touch.

I don't know which is worse ... the fingerprint reader or the customer service. This is a $450 doorstop!!!

Reviewing the Vaultek Desktop Mounting Plate for the DS2i Smart Safe The mounting plate is solid metal and feels very high quality. It comes with four screws for desk or drawer installation, which is appreciated. That said, it would be even better if Vaultek included optional screw lengths. The screws provided were slightly longer than my drawer, so I added a thin piece of plywood underneath for proper support. Once installed, the plate locks in securely and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Since mounting the safe, it no longer shifts at all when opening or closing it—even with my firearm inside. Before installing the plate, the safe would move slightly and needed occasional repositioning. Overall, it’s a well-built, sturdy mounting solution that significantly improves stability. 👍

Great safe! It will stick if the pressure gets too high inside of it though.

I have own the DS2i for a couple years and now the NDS2i. I have loved them since I received them. I write this review to talk about their customer service. I have had a couple small issues and they have been nothing but perfect though the process. Electronics have issues it’s a given but… how they handed is top notch service!! Thank you VAULTEK team!!! If you have had doubts, push them to the side and buy one today!!

Set up was initially confusing. Instructions could be better. Phone assistance was helpful. Now that the safe is squared away it seems solid. A month later, Nov. 23, I’ve run into trouble. The wifi has stopped connecting and while Vaultek says it’s working on a fix it’s been well over a week. I’m trying repeatedly to connect the safe to my wifi and it won’t work. Waiting for additional customer service support. Nov. 24: Customer service came through with a ‘’fix.’’ Safe working fine now. Thanks Vaultek!

My wife bought me the DS2I for some special occasion, too be honest not sure if it was a birthday, xmas or what it was but I loved it! Im also not sure how long ago it was but ive had it for a minute or two for sure. When i got it i placed it beside my bed and placed my Sig M-18 in and confidently slept every night knowing my family was safe in the fact i could protect them and access to my firearm was immediate! Then one day my unit stopped working. I called the company and left a message and my call was returned pretty promptly. I told them of my dilemma and that i wasn't sure how long i had the unit and wasn’t sure if i had registered it. The lady on the phone told me not to worry and that we would get it figured out. She not only found my purchase information but also emailed the information so that i could get it registered to be able to return it for service. Now im not sure if it was still under warranty but they not only sent me a return label ( which alot of companies wont do even if the product is under warranty ) but fixed it and returned it at 0 cost to me! This is not only a great product but excellent customer service! Thank you very much for being a great company to do business with!!!!!

Very pleased at the quality of the fingerprint sensor. Faster and more reliable than my other fingerprint safe (a SentrySafe).

I accidentally ordered the wrong size safe for my firearm, and getting an exchange with an extra invoice was a super easy process! They were quick to respond during the weekdays!

When having an issue with safe DS2i, Vaultek customer support offered repair (requiring to send the safe to China) or safe replacement which worked seamlessly. Got new safe in couple days and it works perfectly. Really happy that in case of an issue Vaultek addresses it very user friendly and with professional customer support!

My product came in in perfect condition. Set up was easy and fast. I love vaultek!!!

My wife got me a Ds2i smart station for Christmas in 2023 and this past week my charging station stopped working. I contacted vaultek and explained my issue. They sent me a prepaid shipping label and I sent it in on August 28,2025. I received it back today September 4,2025 fixed and as good as new. This company is AMAZING and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a bedside safe to invest in them. They are great.

I have a number of gun Vaults from this company, all have worked flawlessly. Lately one wasn't quite working right, sent them a video, got nearly an instant response. Asked another question and immediately got an email saying another was on the way. Not sure I've ever had a company respond that quickly. Very impressed.

They were immediately responsive when my Smart Station went down. Sent it to them with the provided shipping and got the unit back about a week later. Outstanding customer service. I own 4 different VAULTEK products and will buy more.

The safe is well built. This is my 2nd safe from Vaultek Safe and I don't think it will be my last. Excellent construction made to last for years. The LifePod is perfect for travelling.

We have purchased a total of four LifePod mobile gun safes for our cars and are very happy with them. The shipping is very quick and we were able to secure a great deal on refurbished units.

The safe works fine and I like it. It’s the customer service that’s disappointing. I was sent the wrong safe the first time. Ok, no big deal let me just call CS and get them to fix it. And call, and call and call and call but nobody actually answers your call. Recording tells you you’re in line to speak with someone but you’re sent to a voicemail every time. Product is good, not the cheapest on the market and even the cheapest have CS to pick up the phones for customer issues. Why can’t you? I was fed some line about a power outage and not working in office that day. But it felt like a load of …… so I did some research. After finding the co address and a short internet search as well as a phone call. There was no outage in that area, hasn’t been one for a while apparently. If you’re taking a day off then have that recording or just tell me. Would have been irritated yes, but far less than after being fed a load. So it would take a whole lot for me to ever recommend this company. Not the product, but the company is bad.

Well made and useful lockbox for the truck, for sure. The seatbelt track mount is useless, since it limits how far you can put your seat back, so I had to rely on the cable lock and tie strap method. Not ideal, but it works.

When placing my order, I accidentally entered the incorrect shipping address. The Vaultek customer service is absolutely phenomenal! The representative was able to change the address while it was in shipment and not delay delivery! The safe is also awesome, would highly recommend this company and their products to anyone.
